This 2-Ingredient Pizza Dough Will Make You Say Goodbye to Delivery

Who can turn down a delicious slice of pizza? We might not all agree on whether or not it should be topped with pineapple, but there’s no denying it’s a crowd-pleasing favorite. In fact, it’s the most popular comfort food in the country! That’s why I was excited to stumble upon a recipe for making pizza dough at home that doesn’t require a ton of ingredients and is actually even a little bit healthier. 

I love pizza in all forms: delivery, frozen, thick crust or thin, and filled with toppings or just classic plain cheese. However, I never thought I would attempt making my own ‘za without at least relying on a pre-made dough. That is, until Fage Greek yogurt’s two-ingredient pizza dough recipe changed my mind. 

As you probably guessed, one of those ingredients is Greek yogurt. The other is self-rising flour — two things I tend to have in my kitchen regularly as is. All you do is mix together two cups of each ingredient. For the yogurt, that means dumping all of a medium-sized (17.6 oz) tub ($3.27, Walmart) into your bowl.

I used a spatula to mix the ingredients together for just a couple minutes, until pretty much all of the flour was absorbed by the yogurt and it formed a dough. Then I laid it out onto a floured surface to knead until it was smooth. Mine was pretty sticky at this stage. A quick Google search told me it probably needed a bit more flour, so I sprinkled some in little by little and it did the trick!

Next, the dough should be rolled into a ball, but there’s no need to let it rest. I went ahead and flattened it out with a rolling pin. It makes a pretty large pie, and I recommend going on the thinner side even if you want a thicker crust because the flour puffs it up a lot in the oven.

I topped mine with some red sauce we had sitting in our cabinet and a bunch of veggies: broccolini, onions, kale, plus a couple cloves of minced garlic and dollops of ricotta cheese.

The recipe says to let it cook at 425 degrees Fahrenheit for eight to 10 minutes, but it took quite a bit longer for mine to seem cooked all the way through. It ended up being about 20 minutes total. I’m sure this will vary depending on how thick you make your crust and your oven’s cooking power, so just keep an eye on it as it heats up.

Can you believe just two simple ingredients created that crust? It reminded me of focaccia and had a subtle yet satisfying zing from the Greek yogurt that paired nicely with all of the other flavors.

And it was so easy! Honestly, chopping up all of my toppings was more labor intensive than the dough. I also liked that the yogurt added some health benefits like probiotics and protein to the meal. I definitely recommend giving this a try for your next pizza night!
